Wetsuit forbidden on race weekend? because of the persistent heat wave lasting for several days now, the temperature of the waters in Hamburg is above 22 degrees. Starting at 22 degrees the German Triathlon Union (DTU) forbids wearing a wetsuit during a race. More information can be found here: http://www.dtu-info.de/ordnungen.html The expected temperature during the race weekend in the Alster is 26 degrees. Current measurements of the Hamburg Institute of Hygiene and Environment can be found here: http://www.hamburg.de/hu/2347178/triathlon-2010.html These measurements show again that a wetsuit is not permitted at this time. The final announcement on a restriction of wetsuits will be made during the competition meetings on Friday at 7.00pm (sprint distance) as well as on Saturday at 7.00pm (Olympic distance). The competition meetings are going to take place during the Pasta Party in the “Axel-Springer-Passage”. Furthermore you will be able to find a notification on our website which is going to point out weather it is forbidden to swim in a wetsuit or not. Kind regards The Dextro Energy Triathlon Hamburg Team |
